FIRST HALF START: 3:07 P.M. PT
1' — We are underway in this special Memorial Day match. Special kits for the Freedom, in a salute to the troops.
3' —Foul on Lindsey. Play on, says our match referee, Ted Unkel.
4' —Jen Buczkowski was not summoned to the team today due to Riley's decision. This is what happens when you lose your cool. Bompastor missing the mark.
6' —A great battle between Rebecca Moros and Holmfridur Magnusdottir in the Indies' attacking third.
8' — Great shot from Amy Rodriguez, but it misses.
9' —Erin McLeod saves a volley by Joanna Lohman
10' —The fans were calling for a foul suffered by Abby Wambach, cuing the collective boos here in Boyds.
12' —Shot by Wamback off the Beverly Goebel delivery goes wide.
13' —Sonia Bompastor has that head all gauzed up. These military kits look vintage indeed. WUSA-esque, even.
The pace quickens. Rodriguez's shot misses the mark.
14' — A one-time volley reaches the safe hands of Val Henderson.
16' — These players are getting the breaks early. Lohman's next opportunity misses wide.
18' —Washington uses the width of the pitch, but Rebecca Moros's chance misses wide right. Only a matter of time now.
20' — Excellent save by Erin McLeod on the corner.
22' —A shot by Beverly Goebel just does over the crossbar.
24' —GOAL! Washington Freedom 19 Rebecca Moros
Moros had plenty of time to pick her spot and slot it home. The defense for the Independence breaks. It's 1-0 Freedom.
26' —Drums are in full swing here in Germantown.
28' —A shot for Holmfridur Magnusdottir misses the top right corner.
29' — Fingertip save for Henderson in the shot by Christie Welsh.
33' —Ted Unkel points to the spot. Penalty!
34' —GOAL! 20 Abby Wambach
Cool as you like from the spot. It's 2-0 Washington.
36' —No Lisa De Vanna, no Homare Sawa, no problems for Washington.
37' — And Huffman is shaken up, but she gets back on her feet.
39' — Corner for Philly is deflected out.
40' —A chance for Caroline Seger just over the goal.
42' —Throw-in for Rebecca Moros. Washington, looking to consolidate on their lead, are in cruise control.
43' —This is Cat Whitehill, forcing a reset in the ball rotation by the Freedom. The Indies dispossess, but it will be a corner kick.
44' — Let's see how many minutes we get in this one. Philadelphia draws players forward, but Washington goes into the counterattack.
45' — One minute of stoppage time. Set piece opportunity for the Independence. That was wasted.
45' + 1' —It's halftime at the SoccerPlex.
HALFTIME

SECOND HALF START: 4:11 P.M. PT
46' — The second half is now underway, and the Independence need to figure out what is going on.
Substitution Philadelphia Independence
IN 4 Jen Buczkowski

47' — The Independence will look to be more responsible with the ball.
49' — Corner for the Indies. Cleared out by Sarah Huffman.
50' — Good clearance by McLeod. Magnusdottir's shot goes high of the mark.
51' — Another corner for Philadelphia. Lori Lindsey to take.
52' — Too high. Goal kick McLeod.
53' — Another chance off the corner misses the mark.
55' —Great defending by Becky Sauerbrunn.
56' —Up and over the bar for Rodriguez. This is a good outing for Holmfridur Magnusdottir.
58' —Sara Larsson is offside. Bad luck; the Indies had a good look inside the attacking third.
59' —Back come the Freedom. Abby Wambach is fouled.
61' —A valiant one-time shot by Goebel.
62' —Jen Buczkowski volleys that shot into the Maryland SoccerPlex beer garden. A proper Memorial Day welcome.

65' — This is some solid possession point-and-counterpoint.
67' — Substitution Washington Freedom
IN 3 Jill Gilbeau
OUT 13 Christie Welsh
68' — Substitution Philadelphia Independence
IN 10 Lianne Sanderson
OUT 2 Heather Mitts
70' — So far, the Independence have bee miserable at finishing. All that needs to be done is for the Freedom to defend, defend, defend.
72' — Substitution Washington Freedom
IN 21 Alex Singer
OUT 6 Beverly Goebel
74' — Chance for Lori Lindsey misses far right.
75' —No whistle on the foul suffered by Bompastor, huh? Interesting...
76' — We got about 14 minutes and stoppage to go, and it's still 2-0 Washington.
Substitution Philadelphia Independence
IN 16 Lyndsey Patterson
OUT 15 Nikki Krzysik
77' —Good defense by Bompastor on Lindsey.
78' — I think these kits need to be brought back, this time as a third kit.
80' —Jim Gabarra must be pleased with the effort from his team today.
83' —Wambach tells her troops to cool the engines.
84' — The pace has slowed down a little, as the Freedom defense melts the clock down.
85' — Frustration is now starting to settle in for Philadelphia.
86' —Now this is a cheeky foul on Caroline Seger. And she is still injured. Wambach calling Seger out.
Red card 9 Caroline Seger
Philadelphia Independence
87' — And this adds insult to injury for the Independence. Down two goals and now down one player. Brilliant.
88' — Well, the wind has to be sucked out of the Indies camp right now. If it hasn't I will be surprised.
89' — Erin McLeod with another save; who else?
90' — GOAL! Philadelphia Independence 10 Lianne Sanderson
Unbelievable. This should have been saved by McLeod. What was she thinking? Dead giveaway for the England international.
Three minutes of stoppage time.
Substitution Washington Freedom
IN 12 Caitlin Miskel
OUT 19 Rebecca Moros
90' + 2' — Wide shot misses far left of the post.
90' + 3' —Another ambitious one-timer from Wambach.
That is a wrap!
