UFC 114: Rampage Jackson and Rashad Evans Bring UFC into the Mainstream

Christina De NicolaMay 28, 2010

If there was any doubt before that Ultimate Fighting Championship continues to make headway into the mainstream media, take a look at Twitter, Yahoo or Bing.

Tomorrow night's UFC 114: Rampage vs. Evans at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. seems to be creating quite a stir.

No doubt today's announcement that tickets were sold out helped its cause. Or the turbulent war of words taking place between Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and "Suga" Rashad Evans.

Both former UFC light heavyweight champions have developed a rivalry fit for Sin City and its stage.

According to UFC's Web site, its programming reaches over 130 countries, territories and jurisdictions.

And if that's not enough proof for all the naysayers out there that believe the sport will just blow over, you've been warned.

As the summer box office begins to heat up, so do the blockbuster films ready to grace the big screen.

Next month's "The A-Team" remake starring Bradley Cooper (The Hangover) and Jessica Biel (Valentine's Day) is no exception.

But for UFC fans and competitors, it means mainstream exposure for the sport.

Jackson, with extremely big shoes to fill, takes on the part of Bosco Albert "BA" Baracus.

In case you're drawing a blank, that's the character Mr. T made famous over the course of 97 episodes on the hit TV show from the 1980s.

Without having seen the film but drawing on a safe hunch, Jackson's sure to throw out classic one-liners as often as he dishes punches and kicks in the Octagon.

He might go so far as to steal the show from Cooper's hair and Biel's figure.

Until the movie's June 11th release, catch Jackson's real tough guy persona as "Rampage" on the small screen before he becomes a household name.
