"MMA ALL THE WAY!!": MY PREDICTIONS OF UFC 87 STARTING WITH........

James HizonaJul 21, 2008

Hello MMA fans and fighters! I am James "Balistik" Hizona and this is "MMA ALL THE WAY!!". Today's topic of discussion is the main event of UFC 87: Seek and Destroy. Georges "Rush" St. Pierre against Jon Fitch for the UFC Welterweight Championship. In the words of "BIG" John McCarthy, "LETS GET IT ON!!!!" (miss you much John!)

For me, I think that both these guys match up really well as far as styles, conditioning, and heart go.

Both fighters are on a win streak and both fighters are at the top of their game. Unfortunately, one of these winning streaks will end on August 9th. I am going to have to go with Georges on this one.

Usually, I root for the wrestler in the fight, especially since this wrestler is from my home state of Indiana! But Georges' ability to adapt and excel against his opponent's strengths is second to none.

Georges has a "Who's Who" list of victories over Mixed Martial Artists that have an outstanding wrestling background. Josh Koshcheck, Sean Sherk, Matt Hughes just to name a few!

What makes this even more scary is that St. Pierre does not even have an outstanding wrestling background! That is really scary! Because of that, that is why I say Georges wins in the third by TKO.

Now, if Fitch does not get knocked out by the third, Georges will win via unanimous decision. Don't get me wrong, Jon Fitch is no joke! The guy has the longest UFC winning streak right now with eight straight wins (which is a remarkable feat in MMA). And some of those victories were against top fighters in the division. And he has yet to lose in the octagon.

Jon Fitch will be ready. If Georges does not take this fight seriously like he did the last, it is going to be a long night for GSP. I'm sure he will be ready.

Well, that is my prediction for the main event at UFC 87. Now I'd like to know yours. Do you agree or disagree? Until then, this is Balistik signing out.

Peace out!
