No Defense... For 49er's Playoff Hopes!
Hey fans who's blood bleeds red, and gold. I am stoked for the 2010 season. This looks like its our best team since our 2002 squad. Good looking team! I cant wait to see Alex have a real chance, with real weapons! I have read alot of experts picking the 49ers to win the west. As a matter of fact its downright unanimous. I'll admit I get all warm, and fuzzy when I read these predictions. After spinning the wheels for seven years its to be expected. I just dont see it as such a lock. I also remember heading into the 2007 season, and many of those same experts were picking us to push for a playoff spot then as well. Then Norv got called to the Bolts. Alex gets a cheapshot from Seattle, in week 3.This seperates his shoulder, and robs him of two years in his young career.Nolan goes on to worry more about where to cast blame, than coaching. Then in a blink of an eye we were back to square one. Its pretty obvious we have come along ways from that dismal year, but we're not head and shoulders above the rest.... Yet! Believe me, I had no problems with the draft. The O-line was the weak link last year.I would have rather took a corner in three, but I realize Bowman was once considered a first round talent. I also realize hindsight is always 20-20. I do see the defense being a problem in 2010. Did we do anything to improve on the 21st ranked pssing D? I think not. Mays will be great, but not right away. No improvement for the secondary as far as free agents. Why not just resign Bly, and Harris if your not going to improve on them? James? Pass rush? Brooks yeah, but what else? We tied for 8th in the NFL in 2009, in sacks. However if you take away the Rams , and the Lions games the sack total is alot more modest. The run D was great, but if every QB's having their game of year vs. us, how many teams were truely committed to pounding the rock. Lots of Questions. Anyway I see Sings got the team on its way. I know free agency was thin on great players, and the secondary will be focused on in next years draft.Perhaps sooner if the right man becomes available through trade, or other means. I just want to be realistic, the Hawks may have a good passing attack with there improvements all around their offense. The Cards still have Larry Fitzgerald, and Leinart may prove more formidable than those silly experts who think he cant read a playbook inside the hottub. Seriously. Nothings givin in this league. We could match The Steelers with 6 Lombardi trophies, or we may be picking in the top 10 of the 2011 draft. Like I said this team looks good, but it cannot afford injuries, or stupid penalties. All I know is we sure look better than we have in years past. GO NINERS!!!, and whoever's playing the Cowboy's!!!
