UFC 114: Ramage Jackson Looks Lean, Mean, and Ready for Rashad Evans

Brian OswaldMay 24, 2010

We knew Rashad would be ready, now we know Rampage is.

Thanks to Combat Lifestyle , we can clearly see that Jackson took training for this fight seriously; he might be more cut then ever coming into a fight.

Part of the speculation leading up to the UFC 114 fight between Quinton "Rampage: Jackson and Rashad "Suga" Evans revolved around whether or not Jackson would be ready—both physically and mentally.

Sure he had the motivation to pound Evans into obviation.

"I really want to knock this guy out," Jackson said in a press release announcing the fight.

"I've never, ever wanted to knock someone as cold as I want to knock Rashad Evans out. He's disrespected me so much, for so long. I am so motivated to train my ass off. I've moved my coaches into my house already—Rashad should be prepared to see a brand new Rampage in May. I saw him in Sydney a few weeks back and we picked up right where we left off. I can't stand him. He's a disrespectful person and I didn't even want to beat Wanderlei as much as I want to beat this guy."

Rampage mentioned being motivated to train his ass off.

But when the cameras cut to Michael Bisping's corner for his UFC 110 fight with Wanderlei Silva, Jackson looked like he hadn't seen the inside of a gym in years.

Some called him straight up fat.

Add to that Jackson's reputation for not liking to train hard and people were left to speculate on whether or not Jackson would be fight ready for possibly the most heated rivalry fight in UFC history.

What a difference a few months can make though for an athlete the caliber of Jackson.

The only thing left to wonder about with Jackson is his mental state.

The conflict between Jackson and the UFC is well documented but that distraction could actually serve as extra motivation for Jackson to take out Rashad Evans.

And if beating Evans isn't enough incentive on its own, hopefully the now guaranteed title shot against the man that soccer kicked him out of commission back in their PRIDE Days will be enough to inspire the best Rampage Jackson ever to step inside the Octagon this memorial day weekend.

May the best man win.
