Big Things Happening at Over The Limit: Blood, Injuries, and More

Joe M.May 24, 2010

All in one night, at WWE Over the Limit, 4 Superstars were injured, ranging from a concussion to a separated shoulder.

The first injury of the night came early, in the second match.  Ted DiBiase suffered a concussion in his match against R-Truth.  The consussion was believed to have happened when R-Truth slapped Ted DiBiase, obviously pretty hard.  It is even believed that this caused the end of the match to change, as R-Truth won over DiBiase.

This injury wasn't very evident during the match, but having R-Truth go over Ted DiBiase seemed a bit suspicious, as most were very sure DiBiase would win, and frankly,  I was pretty sure that Truth was just a stepping-stone for DiBiase.

The second injury happened during the Rey Mysterio vs. CM Punk match.  Mid-way through the match, Mysterio hit a Hurricanrana on Punk, and Rey's knee braced gashed Punk's head, as evident from the amount of blood.  It took 13-15 staples in his head to cover the gash.

Rey also took a few nasty bumps during the match, however no injuries to Rey have surfaced.

The third injury was received by Randy Orton.  While he was taunting Edge by pounding the mat, getting ready for an RKO, he pushed an already injured should to it's breaking point, separating it.  The match ended a few minutes after in a double countout.

The last injury of the night came in the Batista vs. John Cena "I Quit" Match.  Suffered either from the Attitude Adjustment onto the car, or the Attitude Adjustment off the roof of the car, through the entrance stage.  The injury is to Batista's lower body, most likely his tailbone area.

Also during the match, Batista powerslammed John Cena through an announce table and busted Cena open.  Cena's cut was pretty clean and right on the center of his head, and I'm not sure how a powerslam busts your head.  It reallt looked like Cena bladed here.

It was a pretty crazy night, all together.  Quite a bit of blood and injuries, and while it's never good to see injuries, for the first time in a while, we saw a "hardcore" WWE PPV, even though it wasn't supposed to be one.  This goes to show that even if the WWE wants a "PG" product, wrestling just is not a "PG" form of entertainment.
