Devin Aromashodu 2010 Fantasy Football Projection

There has been a lot of buzz around Devin Aromashodu this off-season. From the outside, this buzz is pretty puzzling. Aromashodu had less than 25 catches in 2009 and did not eclipse 300 yards receiving. The excitement around Aromashodu is attributed to his accomplishments in the last four games in 2009; 282 yards receiving and four touchdowns. Let’s break down Aromashodu’s fantasy football value in 2010.

Assumptions:

1. Aromashodu will become a full time starter in 2010 – Devin Hester’s renewed focus on the return game should mean starting jobs for Johnny Knox and Aromashodu
2. Aromashodu will remain healthy for the 2010 season

Aromashodu should have a successful 2010 under Mike Martz. The new system in Chicago should bring a new dedication to the passing game. The NFC North still has two playoff teams and could mean a lot of come-from-behind passing from the Bears. Expect Aromashodu to get more looks under these circumstances.

The Verdict: Aromashodu is not a bad pickup for a flex spot in average size leagues with standard scoring. He also could be a weak second receiver in larger fantasy leagues. Be careful wasting an early pick on Aromashodu, as a four game resume is simply too small to be taking big gambles on. Aromashodu is a stretch in the sixth round, he is probably better suited for a seventh or eighth round selection.
