Freddie Roach: Floyd's Legs Are Gone and He Will Get Knocked Out by Pacquiao
Leo ReyesMay 23, 2010
If the highly anticipated fight between Floyd Mayweather, Jr and Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao happens this November, Pacquiao's trainer Freddie Roach says the Filipino boxer will knock out Mayweather and win the fight.
Roach told David Tyler of DoghouseBoxing that he believes Mayweather's legs are gone and that has made him very hittable.
The popular BWAA trainer of the year also said in the May 1 Mosley-Mayweather match, the undefeated boxer got hit more than he used to because he has lost his quick movement.
In the recent Mayweather-Mosley match, the once-retired boxer was hit so badly by Mosley in the second round of the fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas that he almost got knocked down.
Boxing experts and fans from around the world who witnessed the bout on live television were surprised that Shane Mosley did not follow up with a series of power punches to finish him off.
Mayweather drum beaters credit the undefeated boxer for immediately recovering from Mosley's devastating punches. They talked about his special talent and skills to survive the round as well as his ability to get out of the mess caused by Mosley's assault.
Freddie Roach had good words for Mayweather. He said he had "predicted that Mayweather would win every round. He did it in a style different than he normally uses but he was very effective with counter punching. Like I have said, he is the second best fighter in the world behind Manny Pacquiao."
Mosley definitely had the power to land finishing punches to count Mayweather out because the near knock out happened only in round two, an early round where boxers are still dangerous and have the power to throw devastating punches.
The recent Mosley-Mayweather match had exposed the undefeated boxer's weak points, and Freddie Roach certainly makes sense when he predicts Manny Pacquiao's victory over Mayweather if the fight that the world wants to see takes place in November.
