Time to Revive WWE, Here Are a Few Wacky Suggestions That Could Work
There have been a lot of articles lately that have talked about ways to change, or better, the WWE. We have had writers complain about the PG Era, and claim that a return to the Attitude days is the only way to right the ship.
While this claim isn't totally off-base, there are better ways the creative team could go. It's been a while since I have wrote on here, so bear with me.
Here are some wacky predictions/suggestions on how to get the old WWE ratings back.
1) Bring back the Cruiserweight title
There have been many articles on this as well, citing superstars like Evan Bourne and Tyson Kidd as guys who could revive this long-lost division. But, how could they possibly do this while maintaining the credibility of the title?
Honestly, I would suggest if they wanted to bring back the Cruiserweight strap, the best way to do it would be to shift the majority of the Cruiserweight talent to Smackdown, and hold a massive tournament to crown the new Champ.
Seeing as the WWE creative team has given up on guys like Bourne and JTG, this title revival would be a perfect way to get them back into the picture, and bring some entertainment back to Smackdown.
2) Time for a Jericho face turn
Many people have grown tired of Jericho's super-heel act (myself not included, I think it is hilarious). But, I also feel that a turn back to the good side would do both Jericho, and the WWE as a whole, good.
We as fans are generally tired of the same old faces on Raw (ie: Cena, HHH), so having Jericho return to the Y2J character would be perfect.
They have actually wrote themselves into a perfect spot to make this happen (whether on purpose or completely by fluke). By teaming Jericho up with the Miz, it would make perfect sense to have them clash egos, leading to a split.
People have been dying to see The Miz go down, and having Jericho turn on him and destroying him for good would certainly help him gain back some respect from the WWE fanbase.
3) The Super-Cena heel turn
There have been wayyy too many articles on here proclaiming that the time is now to turn Cena to the dark side. Therefore, I won't dwell on it too much.
How could it happen? Honestly, I don't think the WWE even has remotely thought about this, so where could they turn. It may sound ludicrous, but the one man who could write this swerve would be the very same man that did it to Hogan: Eric Bischoff.
I realize he is with TNA, and did very little his last time with WWE, but if anyone could pull off this switch it would be Bischoff.
4) Less WCW-Style Writing
Did anyone else notice that both Raw and Smackdown had a lot of disqualifications? It is really starting to look like the old WCW with writing like that. I realize they have to create heat for their PPV, but come on.
I have noticed the writing/booking of late has been all over the place, but they can't dig themselves into a hole like this.
5) WWE Divas
There was a time where people didn't change the channel during Divas matches. Those days seem to be long gone. The matches have become so painfully bad that even the gorgeous ladies are getting harder to watch.
Also, it seems like we see the same 6-Diva tag matches on every show. They need to figure out whether to eliminate the Divas altogether, or make them more bearable to watch. Those five-minute "matches" shouldn't even be allowed on TV.
6) Give Jack Swagger a Manager!
People in the IWC continue to say Jack Swagger is a bad Champion because he can`t speak. Well, there is a simple solution for this...get him a manager! How many superstars back in the day had managers do most of their talking?
I realize there aren't any managers kicking around really, but what about using a guy like William Regal or Abraham Washington? Those guys are barely used anymore, and both are excellent on the mic.
Giving Swagger a voice would both further his heel character, and make him a more credible Champion.
These are just a few of my suggestions, feel free to criticize them as you please.
