HP Byron Nelson Invitational: Low Scores Hold Steady For Third Round
It's the Mark Hensby show on Saturday in Irving, Texas, at the Byron Nelson Invitational as Hensby is minus seven on No. 14.
Hensby is still two shots back of the leaders at this point, and being winless on the PGA Tour for 14 years, he probably won't be around on Sunday, but Mark, seriously try to have a killer round on Sunday to finally win one.
Arjun Atwal also is at minus six for the day on 17, and is currently at minus six for the tournament. I do not believe Atwal has a win on the PGA Tour either.
Scott Verplank birdied the first two holes to immediately insert himself into the mix, and is now at minus seven for the tournament.
Gary Woodland also had a very nice round with a minus five on Saturday and is at minus five for the event as well.
There are many, many players with rounds of two to four under today, so on Sunday, with a good solid 65 or 66, plenty of players have a chance to win this event.
My pick to win this event, Heath Slocum, is showing signs of life with a three-under round so far on Saturday, and minus four total. Six shots can be made up, that is if the leaders do not increase the lead on Saturday.
Elkington, Adams, Beckman, and Jason Day all have a chance to play well and move that No. 1 spot for the weekend to a minus 14 start for Sunday.
If the mark is minus 14 or more, then that will eliminate many guys from making it to the top of the leaderboard on Sunday. At that projected mark, maybe 14 people have a legitimate chance of winning this event.
At minus 10 or less, 40 people have a shot at winning this thing, going low on Sunday.
A full wrap of the day's event can surely be found on the great golf page found on Bleacherreport.com.
I will update my Yahoo! Fantasy Golf Team action soon. Currently after gaining spots the first two days of this event, I have reached the 79th percentile with 2,818 points.
I am ahead of three out of four experts for the spring now, and for the full season I am almost ahead of three out of the four as well.
So in short, my golf picks have heated up a bit.
Good luck to your favorites and stay out of the trees.
