Roger Federer Slighted Rafael Nadal, Again ?

Recently Federer was reported to have commented on the importance of the clay court season and the French Open as followed:

"Rafa's and my clay court seasons are decided at the French Open, and not before.

"It's unfortunately -- or fortunately -- like that. If we win all the tournaments like Rafa now and then go out in the first round of the French, everything will be questioned."

To which, Nadal disagreed:

"Well, that's a respectable opinion that I don't share,"

"And not because I have won the three (Masters) leading up to it, which some might think, but because I think it is unfair to think the whole clay season is decided by one tournament."

What was even more incredible, never before reported, was the locker room conversation between Federer and Nadal that happened to be overheard by Robin Solderling taking a shower nearby.

Roger: "Well, Rafa, you know I like to read things written about me to see how great people think I am, and I came across a few things lately that insinuated that I was being arrogant and disrespectful toward you, minimized your accomplishment because I was bitter, etc... you know, and I was called all kinds of names that I'd rather not repeat.  I don't know if you'd read the same thing. 

So immediately after I said that for you and me, The FO was the one deciding our clay court season's success.  I thought, hmm, I need to check with Rafa to see what he made out of that, especially when you disagreed.  I want you to know that I was completely honest and not trying to take anything away from your three MS wins in a row."

Rafa: "Ya I heard something like that, but it's OK Roger.  I always knew you aare honest.  And remember, no matter what people say, you aare da best in history.  You aare gonna equal Rod Laver calendar Slam record."

Roger: "Thanks Rafa.  OK, I'm glad there's no misunderstanding, because I really like you and respect your game, you know.  I was surprised that people even brought up my comment years ago that your game was one dimensional.  Maybe I thought so at that time, but you had become so good over the years and beat me outright on two other surfaces too.  So in no way that I would intentionally minimize your game like that."

Rafa: "Yah, sometimes people overreact, no? But as always, you aare da best, and you aare right.  All da matches I beat you on clay, I jast only used uno dimension."

Roger: "That sounds odd, but anyway, I'm glad there's no hard feeling from you.  If anything I have to thank you for supporting me in the French Open 2009 after you lost to Robin."

Rafa: "Ya. Dat was bad time for me. No? Knees, parents divorced, Xisca not happy, she wanted da old Rafa, da number 2 Rafa back.  So I thought, I probably gonna lose.  So I didn't try hard and let dat weird guy win.  But dis year, gonna be different, No?"

Roger: Yeah, definitely, even though I am the reigning champion, I think you are the favourite based on your record there.

Rafa: No.  You aare da number 1, you aare da best. You aare da defending champion, so I think you aare da favourite, No?  Da people who write bad things about you, they probably jast want to keess my a$$ a little, No? But many more want to keess yours.

Soderling:  I'll show you who's the favourite. And you'd better wear a skirt, because I don't care how many want to "keess" that little a$$ of yours, but I'm having none of that bud picking time wasting antic.
