Flyers' Game One a Shutout and a Thing of Beauty

I watched an entire game with confidence last night - wow!  First time this season there were no nerves, no flipping channels and walking away not to jinx a close game.  The Flyers were awesome.  I previously stated that rest between series might stop the team's adrenaline from pumping and seems the Flyers agree with me.  "I think with having just 1 day off in between series was good for us," said Blair Betts. "It really didn't give us a chance to sit back and dwell on what happened last series. We just put it behind us. We had a new team coming in here and a lot of reasons [to be sharp]."  And were they ever.  The pulling of Halak was a dream moment. 

Our 3rd string goalie is a superstar and saved us from what might have been a disaster in based on the first period.  Leighton is truly a hero in my eyes and the hope is he will stay sharp throughout this series and the next and bring The Cup home.  The fact that the Habs took the worst hosing in their history since 1919 has to be demoralizing.  It may be fatal because their ace is Halak and he was anything but last night. One has to wonder what the Habs are feeling today.  They were a team of angry little ( compared to the Flyers) men last night and there were penalties galore and fights - gotta' love the fights.  The Flyers were outshot, 13-6, in the first period but drew first blood. Overall, we were outshot, 28-25, over three periods but our pucks made it into the net. 

What I did not like were the cheap shot the Habs took including one as the game ended.  They were like a fighter who loses in a TKO and rather go to his corner manages an upper cut to the winners chin - does no damage but looks stupid.  Montreal did not realize that we came to play hard and physical and every Flyer was pumped to score.  During one goal a Hab tried to push the puck out of the net hoping he could unscore a goal - must be a Newfie!  We have to continue to anger the Habs and make them do stupid things.  It works to our advantage. 

Game 2 tomorrow and to the Gods of Sports ...keep this going...I want to wach entire games.  It does not matter that my farmville crops have indeed withered, my virtual pets are starving (can you kill a virtual pet?) and my face itches from orange and black war paint...doesn't get much better than this (and I do not have to chant Crosby Sucks til next year)!
