Post 2010 NFL Draft: Cleveland Browns Tried To Trade Up For Eric Berry

Old AccountMay 16, 2010

Three weeks have gone by since the 2010 NFL Draft concluded.

Known for one of the deeper draft classes in the past 20 years, this year's crop of prospects brought great interest to a lot of teams.

One of those teams are the Cleveland Browns. Sitting at the seventh pick, many options were being considered for the Browns.

Safety Eric Berry, now a member of the Kansas City Chiefs, was near the top of the Browns priority list.

And before the Chiefs drafted Berry, there was a team looking to trade up.

According to Tony Grossi of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Cleveland Browns made an offer to the Kansas City Chiefs, where they would move up to select Berry with the fiftth overall pick.

The Chiefs apparently never returned the call and selected the former Tennessee star.

Berry, in my opinion, had the most talent out of any prospect in this year's draft.

The Browns had needs in the secondary, but safety was the biggest need.

Instead, with the seventh overall pick the Browns took corner back Joe Haden who was high on their draft board as well.
