Tennessee Titans: Draft Pick Breakdown- David Howard
The Titans had a pretty good draft since Mike Reinfeldt, and this year could be his best yet. Some really big names were taken along with some potential risks.
For this series, I'm going to break down each pick individually, and let you know how successful I think they will become.
The final selection of the 2010 NFL Draft for the Titans was another smart athlete. David Howard played defensive tackle at Brown.
He has the strength and size of an NFL defensive tackle at 6'3", 298 lbs. Howard is also able to put up 415 lbs. on the bench press, which is very impressive.
He is also very intelligent, which is very useful for defensive linemen when it comes to play recognition. Howard may not of been a big time player had he gone anywhere else, but he will fit perfectly into the Titans scheme.
The Titans use a run prevent defense, which is exactly the type of player Howard is. He will be able to eat up blocks and close gaps. It also does not hurt that he will be coached by arguably the games best defensive line coach, Jim Washburn.
With the trade of Kevin Vickerson during the draft, Howard has a very strong chance of making this team.
I wouldn't be surprised to see him get some playing time behind Jason Jones, Tony Brown, and Jovan Haye. Considering Howard has the ability and size you can't coach, he could turn out to be one heck of a player.
