Victor Ortiz-Nate Campbell: Round by Round
The Theater at Madison Square Garden is the site for tonight's edition of HBO's Boxing After Dark, with two sweet fights on tap. Amir Khan and Paulie Malignaggi will get it on in the main event, but first up is Victor Ortiz taking on Nate Campbell.
Bob Papa and Max Kellerman discusses how Ortiz and Khan have each lost just once on the way to the top of the sport, but Golden Boy still has high hopes for both of them. Kellerman also narrates a video package about Khan, including his loss to Breidis Prescott, and puts him into context in a talent-filled 140-pound division that includes Timothy Bradley, Marcos Maidana, Devon Alexander, and Ortiz, who found out about Maidana the hard way.
It's almost time to get down to business as Ortiz makes his way to the ring. He has won twice since being stopped by Maidana last June, and his record now stands at 26-2-1 with 21 KOs.
Campbell is 15 years older than Ortiz but the former lightweight titleholder doesn't have tons of mileage on him. The Galaxy Warrior is 33-5-1 with 25 wins by KO.
Michael Buffer does the introductions, and we are set for a scheduled 10 rounds of junior welterweight action.
