Jimmie Johnson Leads Dover Cup Practice

Jimmie Johnson was fastest in Sprint Cup Practice Friday for the Autism Speaks 400 from the Monster Mile in Dover. Johnson was fastest most of the whole 90 minute practice session on Friday with a fast lap at 22.73 @ 158.67 mph. Johnson has five wins at Dover International Speedway but has yet to win a pole in 2010, he will get that chance in qualifying later today. Elliott Sadler early in practice cut down a tire and hit the wall hard they went to a backup car and he did make it back out before practice was over. Sprint Cup qualifying is set for 3pm today on Speed.

NASCAR DOVER NOTES

Brian Vickers will not drive at Dover, he is currently in a hospital with a medical condition that is being treated. Casey Mears will drive the #83 Red Bull Toyota this weekend in Dover.

Jeff Gordon who has been so close to a win the past several races was 12th along with Jeff Burton who was 16th in practice.

Kevin Harvick who is the Sprint Cup point leader over Jimmie Johnson was 28th in practice.

Jamie McMurray who finished second at Darlington and Talladega was 26th. McMurray won the Daytona 500, scored a pole at California and with two second place finishes in the last 3 races he is moved up to 16th in points.
