Only One Obstacle Between The Sharks and Greatness

The Western Conference final series has been decided. The San Jose Sharks, coming off a 4-1 defeat of the Detroit Red Wings will be taking on the Chicago Blackhawks. The odds makers have to be leaning towards the Blackhawks, but the Sharks are hungry.

The Sharks have been off since Saturday and are anxious to play in the finals. They may have had the most surprising victory by sending the Red Wings home with only one win. The rest factor most definitely gives them an edge over the Blackhawks who have had a trying few games in the last week.

The Blackhawks defeated the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday with a score of 5-1 but were coming off of a two game loss. As always, the Blackhawks showed the discipline needed to win games and were in this same position last year (ironically, they also beat the Canucks last year to get here). They have a strong team but the Sharks have shown the willingness and grit to do what they have to in order to pull off a win.

I think the Blackhawks will be a big obstacle between the Sharks and the Cup in this final western series. But with the amount of rest and the confidence the Sharks have with their commanding series win against a previously dominant team, the Blackhawks will be hard pressed to knock the Sharks away from their goal. Especially if the Shark players play like they did in their last series.
