Marquee Matchups

Minnesota (+4) at New Orleans –Thursday Night–Rematch of the NFC Championship, and the oddsmakers posted this line with the assumption that #4 will be under center.  Potential to be the best game of the week and New Orleans is a great place to open the season.

Cincinnati (+6 ½) at New England–The Bengals stunned the AFC last year by winning the North and sweeping the Steelers.  Was it a fluke or will they play well again? They start off with a tough test in Foxboro against Tom Brady and the Patriots.

Atlanta (+1) at Pittsburgh–This will be  a game that gets plenty of attention since QB Ben Rothlisberger will not be playing.  It will be interesting to see how they respond against the high flying Falcons with someone new under center. This game should be close and the line reflects that.

Off-season Stories

Carolina (+7) at NY Giants–the big story of the draft was how far that Jimmy Claussen fell.  It will be interesting to see who starts under center for the Panthers. Whoever it is could have a rude awakening against a Giants defense that has been retooled.

SHOCKER: Denver (+2) at Jacksonville–Tim Tebow already has the most popular jersey when it comes to sales. Now he gets the respect from Vegas oddsmakers. Will he get the start in week one on the road in Jacksonville? The pressure may be too much to start him in Florida where he gained his popularity and has a huge fan base.

San Francisco (Even) at SeattlePete Carroll welcome to the NFL. He won’t have too long to adjust going against the 49ers and Mike Singletary.  Will his changes to the Seahawks show a w in in week one?

Green Bay (+1) at PhiladelphiaDonovan Mcnabb era is over in Philadelphia. The Eagles will fans will need Kolb to respond with a win right away or the second guessers will be out in numbers.

Divisional Fights

Indianapolis (-3) at Houston–The Texans have the toughest schedule in the NFL this year.  It shows as they start the season against the AFC Championship Colts and Peyton Manning.

Miami (-2) at Buffalo–This AFC East battle is always a good one and the line says it should be a good one.  The Dolphins are glad they are in Buffalo for week one and not in December.

Detroit (+7) at Chicago–The Lions had one of the best drafts in the NFL, will the rookies make an impact right away or can we expect the usual from the Lions? Jay Cutler year two in Chicago begins.

Prime Time Battles

Dallas (-4) at Washington – Sunday Night –What will be more interesting to see: Donovan Mcnabb in a Redskins uniform or Dez Bryant wearing #88 for the Cowboys?

Baltimore (+3) at NY Jets – Monday Night–These teams both have made some good off-season moves and have very high expectations. Rex Ryan plays his former team and it will be interesting to see how the defenses match up.

San Diego (-5 ½) at Kansas City – Monday Night–How did this game sneak into the Monday night card? What seems like a lame game may turn out to be an interesting one. Chargers first game without LT on the team in a very long time.

Best of the Rest

Oakland (+8) at Tennessee–What QB breaks down first, Vince Young, or Jason Campbell?

Cleveland (+1 ½) at Tampa Bay –Y-a-w-n, can’t we see Colt McCoy play in the first game, please?

Arizona (-3 ½) at St. Louis–Sam Bradford will be under center for the first game but it will be interesting to see if Marc Bulger is under center for the Cardinals.
