Jared Gaither Absent From Final Day Of Camp; A Trade Is Bound To Happen

Old AccountMay 9, 2010

Well, NFL fans, it seems that we have seen the last of Jared Gaither in a Ravens uniform.

The unhappy lineman for the Baltimore Ravens missed the final day of the mandatory mini-camp (missed two days in total).

At first, it was made out to seem as if Gaither did sustain some sort of injury yesterday. But being absent for a second straight day sent a message to the Ravens.

Gaither's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, feels Gaither is one of the best left tackles in the league, and should be paid like one.

The drama began Friday, when Gaither was moved to the right side in favor of second year starter Michael Oher.

Since then, rumors emerged of the Buffalo Bills showing a lot of interest in Gaither, and ESPN's Adam Schefter said he will be gone by week one.

Well, it seems as if it will come true. No injuries were specified yesterday, and it appears to me this is Rosenhaus' attempt to see his client get traded.

John Harbaugh already questioned his motivation and work ethic. Missing most of the mini-camp will not settle well with the staff.

The Gaither rumors have been going on for the past few months, ever since the Ravens made it known the tackle was on the market.

The Ravens have two great young tackles, but will only be able to pay one of them. Include the fact that Haloti Ngata will need an extension, and the Ravens have said they want him as a Raven for life.

Thus, Gaither is the odd man out.

The question now becomes who will trade for him. Are the Bills against themselves when it comes to a trade for Gaither? Or will another team emerge in the sweepstakes?

It doesn't look good for Gaither, who said he wanted to finish his career as a Raven. In 2010, it is likely he finds himself at left tackle with a new club.
