McMurray Tops Southern 500 Final Practice At Darlington

Dustin H.May 7, 2010

A hot day in Darlington South Carolina at Darlington Raceway, has made for alot of headache's as several drivers will be going to backup cars. Several drivers continue to earn the Darlington Stripe in final practice. McMurray who had made contact with the wall was still the fastest with a lap of 27.62 @ 178.064 mph with Denny Hamlin second fastest. Hamlin has been fast all day and has had no issues on track. Greg Biffle made hard contact early in final practice and will be going to a backup. Also add Casey Mears who had a hard hit off Turn 2 along with Joe Nemechek who crashed and Marcos Ambrose. The racetrack's nickname could'nt be more true just ask the drivers on Friday.

Other drivers who had Friday trouble but were still fast include Kurt Busch he also collected the wall and spun. Last week's Richmond winner Kyle Busch also made contact with the wall. This track has been tough on cars and drivers both on Friday and qualifying should be very exciting especially when knockout qualifying comes up on Speed at 5pm today.
