Arsenal Transfer Issue: William Gallas For Mamadou Sakho?
After failing to attract silverware for the fifth consecutive season now, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has vowed to make changes to his youthful squad. Injury seriously exposed Arsenal lack of depth when several key players couldn't play. and the Gunners were unable to perform against the strong oppositions.
William Gallas was a member who unfortunately fell to injury mid way through the second half of the season. Gallas had found seriously impressive form in 2009/2010 and also struck up an almost unbeatable centre half partnership with new signing Thomas Vermaelen.
However, at 32 and just coming off contract, there is much speculation about the Frenchman's future. The defender is yet to reach an agreement with Wenger and it is becoming a highly likely prospect that Gallas will be playing elsewhere for the next campaign.

If so Wenger should look to highlight this problem by seeking a trade deal. The departure of Gallas would ensure a gaping defensive hole is left in the Arsenal backline and with Johan Djourou still recovering from his injury a quality replacement is desperately needed.
One player who has been on Arsenal's radar for some time now is stunning PSG defender Mamadou Sakho. Considered as one of the best defensive prospects in Europe, Sakho would prove a perfect replacement if Gallas does decide to depart.
Renown for his physicality and leadership, Sakho is also blessed with a tremendous work rate, versatility, and a great leap. The 20 year old would add much needed leadership to Arsenal defensive department as well as much needed aggression.
Furthermore, at the tender age of 20, Sakho all ready has three seasons of experience and the joy of donning the captains' armband.
PSG will be keen to hold onto their talented youngster but may consider a small cash fee along with Gallas. The French giants have also hinted their interest in Emmanuel Eboue, which could result in the Ivorian swapping with Sahko.
So. it is evident that Wenger should be willing to say farewell to Gallas to ensure the presence of Mamadou Sakho at the Emirates next season.
