Lakers Take a 2-0 Series Lead Against Utah Jazz in NBA Playoffs
The Lakers came out of the gates looking sluggish, going down 11-4 earlier in the game. The Jazz didn't have enough options on offense to sustain the way they were playing at the start, their injuries have really hurt them. The Jazz looked stagnant on offense and shot 39 percent from the field.
The Lakers were able to stay in control for basically the whole game due to to their consistent scoring in the paint by Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum. Kobe said Bynum and Pau's work on the boards tonight was sensational.
Jerry Sloan said, "I was proud of the way the my guys got back in the game."
Odom commented that, "I feel like i am getting better and better as the playoffs go on, there is always room for improvement."
Odom, Pau and Bynum crashed the boards and between them they grabbed 34 rebounds. Kobe was making plays today, getting 8 assists. The Jazz are looking to double off Artest because of his poor shooting throughout the playoffs. Tonight he shot 1 from 7 today from the threes.
The Lakers need to bring their A game in game 3 in Utah. Utah is a very loud arena which the Lakers are used to after Round 1. The need to grind the Jazz out of the game by pounding the ball down low and intensify defense.
The Lakers didn't play to their full potential but were able to pull off a victory. The Lakers should have won by 15 plus points. They look like they are going to advance to the conference finals, and the Suns are up 2-0 which is good news for the Lakers because their length is too much for the Suns.
