Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
WR Art Monk – 1980
CB Darrell Green – 1983
LT Chris Samuels – 2000
Excellent first round picks who didn’t make the cut as finalists in this category include RB Andy Farkas [1938], OL Mark May [1981], CB Champ Bailey [1999], LB Lavar Arrington [2000], S Sean Taylor [2004] and DE/LB Brian Orakpo [2009].
Baugh, Taylor, Monk and Green are all in the Hall of Fame and Samuels, who retired after last season and isn’t eligible for five years, has a pretty good shot at a bust in Canton, as well. Baugh was a star at two positions and arguably the first truly great quarterback in the NFL, as well as probably the best quarterback in franchise history. Taylor set franchise and NFL records for receptions until Monk broke them with Taylor as his position coach. Green played at a high level for two decades, holds the team record for interceptions and clearly ranks as the best defensive player in franchise history. Samuels was named to six Pro Bowls in ten seasons and is the obvious choice as the best Redskins of the first decade of this century. Any one of them would be a good choice, so make your pick!
