Arsenal is renowned for turning baby-faced youngsters into superstars. The footballing world has watched in awe as a number of teenagers arrive at the club and soon become the next big thing in world football.

One player who has patiently and diligently worked his way through the Arsenal youth ranks is Jay Simpson. The English striker has been at the club since the tender age of nine and has portrayed himself as a promising young footballer.

A hugely impressive loan spell at Millwall enabled the striker to burst onto the English football scene. Simpson showed he is a strong and pacey striker capable of fulfilling a central or wide role.

Simpson's efforts of 44 appearances and 8 goals earned him the PFA Fans League One Player Of The Year.

On his return to the Emirates the former England U-18's star featured heavily in the League Cup during 2008/2009. Making his début and also scoring twice for the Gunners.

The promising youth was then sent abroad to West Bromwich Albion during the January transfer window. The Baggies were struggling in the Premiership and the addition of Simpson saw the Albion attack revitalized. However they were still relegated despite Simpson recording 13 appearances with a handy Premier League Goal.

Now the striker is at Queens Park Rangers where has has continued his good form playing a strong role in their promotion challenge with 40 appearances and 12 goals.

So can Jay Simpson break into the Arsenal squad? It is safe to say the he is now fully experienced and matured thanks to his spells.

This season for Wenger it was glaringly evident the lack of depth Arsenal boasted when injury came around to haunt them, especially in attack. Simpson would provide increased attacking depth and versatility.

His pace and strength would ensure he is a solid impact player of the bench and can provide the much needed height on the flanks.
