EPL Week 37: Preview of Sunday's Games

Joe LazarMay 1, 2010

Liverpool vs Chelsea

With Torres out for the rest of the season and Babel the most probable replacement, Liverpool fans are not likely to see a high scoring match, unless it’s from Chelsea. Liverpool are without several key defenders including the instrumental Skrtel.

John Terry will be back in the Chelsea fold after his ban, and this should be an easy game for him to be dropped into considering it’s against Liverpool.

Even if Liverpool have been very god at home recently, their injuries will see them struggling greatly against this Chelsea side. It seems more than likely that the home side could be happy with a draw especially considering if they win they will be doing Manchester United a huge favor.

Fulham vs West Ham

Fulham will probably not risk Zamora although in theory he is fit enough to play, the clubs top goal scorer is likely to be valued too highly to risk under any circumstances. The squad is likely to be majorly rotated and a few unfamiliar faces may start.

West Ham could see the return of Boa Morte and Tomkins. West Ham’s away form has been diabolical this season and since the opening day of the Premiership they have not won an away game. And although Fulham’s form has not been great recently they are certainly the strong favorites for the match. It doesn’t look likely that West Ham will be seeing any change in their away form.

Sunderland vs Manchester United

Rooney returns to the United fold as does Ferdinand, this duo will certainly be welcomed back with United needing to win to keep the pressure on Chelsea.

Sunderland are missing Hutton not that even a fully fit squad would make them eager to take on Manchester United, who should by all accounts outclass Sunderland this weekend.

Sunderland had a good performance last weekend and they actually managed to keep a clean sheet, but with the pressure on United and with a side that is by all means better than Sunderland’s, there doesn’t seem like there’s much chance of the Black Cats picking up a good result.
