Dear Mark Cuban, The Time Has Come To Blow Up The Mavs

 Dear Mark,

 I do hope I can call you Mark, as you seem down to Earth and I did run in to you and Dirk a couple of years ago at The Loon in Dallas and I thought we bonded :)

 And I really respect you as businessman, I think you consistently have demonstrated that you're a forward thinker, and as shrewd a guy as there is out there.

 And that's why it's been so surprising to me how badly you've run your franchise the last few years.

 You got screwed by Referees in Miami, I'll give you that one. But since then you traded away a great young talent(Devin Harris) plus a first round pick to pay $10 million more a season for 35,36,37, and 38 year old Jason Kidd.

 Let's not even talk about what happened in Oakland in 2007...

 And now you've been eliminated as a higher seed. Again. And once again the question that everyone is asking, is " Can this team as constructed win a title?"

 And the question that I know you've been trying to avoid has become a real one

 Can you win a championship with Dirk Nowitzki as your best player, crunch time scorer, and dominant personality?

 As much as you Dirk have a bond, the businessman in you has to know the answer to this question Mark.

 It's no.

 Furthermore the ONLY thing that makes sense now if you're seriously committed to bringing The Larry O Brien trophy to Dallas one day, is to trade Dirk while he still has some value. In fact it's time to admit that this team was a mistake and blow the whole thing up.

 I know it'll be tough admitting that this era's Mavs were good but not quite good enough. 

 But what's the alternative?

 Another 45-55 wins and first round exit?

 That's like lying to your kids about how you're not getting divorce while secretly filing the papers.

 You'll probably try to make some sabermetrics type argument about how Jason Kidd is underrated or how Dirk actually has great stats in the clutch, or how Shawn Marion was the best value free agent. But you know. Just like the Spurs knew, and the Lakers know and the whole rest of the league knows.

 This particular group of Mavericks, just don't have it mentally. And when the going gets rough they fold. It's not one or two guys, it's all of them.

 You've always been a fan's owner Mark, and you seem really committed to building a winner, so do the right thing and blow this team up. Stop pretending that things are going to magically change
