How Dana White Is Forcing Anderson Silva's Hand at UFC 117
Although UFC president Dana White has no choice but to showcase controversial middleweight king Anderson Silva as the featured attraction at UFC 117 , that doesnโt mean he isnโt worried about it.
โYou have to,โ White told a small group of reporters following WEC 48 on Saturday night. โHeโs the main event.โ
White announced two weeks ago on ESPNโs Jim Rome is Burning that Silva would make his next title defense against Chael Sonnen. The brash president also threatened to fire โThe Spiderโ if he were to ever resort back to his โembarrassingโ antics .

White was completely livid as he watched Silva make a mockery out of the organizationโs most monumental event. Although the two sides have spoken since the debacle at UFC 112, with Silvaโs side claiming Whiteโs angry message was received very loudly and quite clearly, White doesnโt appear completely convinced his prized assassin really understood the notice.
โI wish I could sit down with everyone and explain, โListen, this is what happened with Anderson,โโ White said of his biggest enigma. โI canโt. He gave me no answers, either. Itโs one of the craziest things, Iโm sure, for any of us. All of us have been in the fight business or whatever for a long time, and Iโve never seen anything like that, ever. Ever. Nothing that crazy.โ
At the end of the day, when Silva actually wants to fight, nobody can come close to beating him, and itโs rather amusing watching people try. For that reason, White has no choice but to give his champion one final chance to do his thing.
โListen, heโs our guy,โ White said. โHeโs the champion. Hopefully, that never happens again.โ
Although White didnโt mention a specific date for the 185-pound clash, August 7th inside the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California isย the front runner to host the five round affair.
