Barcelona vs Inter Milan Live: Champions League Semifinal, Second Leg

Jan StarrApr 28, 2010

Barcelona are no strangers to drama when it comes to Champions League qualifications. It was last season that the Catalans got in the final only thanks to a goal scored in the last moment of the match against Chelsea. After that, they easily managed to win the trophy. So, tonight we should expect to witness again dramatic decisions and brilliant performances on Camp Nou.

Guardiola will attempt to break a record in the new format of the Champions League and win two trophies successively with the same team. Inter, on the other hand, haven’t reached the final stage of the competition since 1972, which is a very long period of time for the otherwise popular Italian team.

Although in autumn Inter Milan were being defeated on Camp Nou with 2-0 by fulminating Barcelona, now things seem to have changed a little bit. Inter’s performance has improved visibly and they seem to be in their best shape of this season.

The match Barcelona had against Xerez in the last stage demonstrated that the European champions are in relatively good shape, as they defeated the already relegated team, 3-1. Inter were in a similar position recently, as they won on their home ground a match against Atalanta with 3-1, and thus got back on the first spot of the Serie A.

Iniesta will miss this match, unfortunately, as he is still injured, while Carles Puyol is suspended because of the yellow cards he accumulated. At Inter, Dejan Stankovic is also suspended, while Sneijder seems to have recovered just in time for this match, after he was injured during the match against Atalanta. So, both teams will have most of their men able to play and they do not have really significant problems with injured players.

Johan Cruyff, Barca’s star of the '70s, thinks that the Spanish team should “strangle” the Italians by putting pressure upon so that more than two goals will be scored against Inter. Barcelona will certainly start the attack even from the beginning, as they have to score at least twice.

On the other had, Inter has two players that are brilliant at counterattacking, Diego Milito and Samuel Eto’o, who can always cause big trouble for the Catalans’ defense.

You can watch Barcelona vs Inter live on several TV stations: Sky Calcio 1 (HD) in Italy, Sky Sport 1 (HD) in Germany, Sport 1 (HD) in Netherlands, Fox Channel (Soccer and Sports), C+ France, Al Jazeera Sport HD1, DigitAlb HD4 and many others.
