KIDS COLUMN: RED STARS VS SKY BLUE FC, The Good and the Not so Good

Marivi Howell-ArzaApr 27, 2010

Defending champions, Sky Blue FC, played the Chicago Red Stars On Sunday, April 25. Not good.

Julianne Sitch- Didn't do much wrong today, but she still has to win me over. Still not good.

Sky Blue's Defense- I wish they were no good.

Ian Gut and Margaret Donka (Referees)- Definitely not good.

Though much was not good about this game, there were some good things to celebrate. The Red Stars were dominating the field, with people like Cristiane, Ella Masar, Karen Carney, and Brittany Klein (whom I like to call "little girl"). How else do you explain the 17 shots the Red Stars took as opposed to Sky Blue's 8?

The highlight of this game was when the refs kept calling off sides. NOT COOL! All of them were perfectly fine, and they definitely need to get some refs with 20-20 vision and functional brains. That we did not have tonight.

Towards the end of the game, the Red Stars started and succeeded at pounding Sky Blue. I believe the only reason that they didn't score any goals (they actually scored 2 referees!) was because their defense was on FIRE. En fuego. Take no prisoners.

After the game, I went to the press conference with Karen Carney and coach Emma Hayes. I asked Hayes what her thoughts on the officials were, and at first she said, "No comment." I laughed. Then she let out, "We didn't score. Or did we..." MY SENTIMENTS EXACTLY COACH! And another thing I agree with: "We aren't a bad team. We have lots of talent," said Carney.

So there you have it. A bitter-sweet 1-0 loss to Sky Blue. Or should I say 2-1 win?
