The Impact Of The WWE 2010 Draft, Where Do They Go From Here
So the WWE Draft 2010 is over. Including the supplemental draft, 8 WWE superstars moved to another brand. Raw obviously has gained more from the draft as Chris Jericho and Edge both moved to Monday Nights. While Smackdown got a Diva in the draft and younger talents from Raw in Kofi Kingston and Christian.
The draft really sucks. I do not think they should hold it every year. The concept no longer applies since Smackdown superstars usually appear to Raw now and vise versa. Plus storyline feuds isn't that great nowadays since superstars keeps moving every year.
But now lets see what the future holds for the draftees. Will all 16 superstars be successful after the draft?
Lets start from Raw. Chris Jericho and Edge will probably continue theirย feudย for a while and then they will go hunt for the gold. As for John Morrison and R Truth, I think the move will keep them on the mid card status. John Morrison might re ignite his feud with former tag team partner, The Miz. The same goes for R Truth but I had the same idea when Evan Bourne went to Raw but during his tenure in Raw, all he did was job to Sheamus and lose most of his matches. Plus R Truth never seems to get a break. I doubt he'll get it on Raw.
At the supplemental Draft, Raw got The Great Khali. Not really an impressive draw, he'll most likely do spoofs with the guest hosts like he did with MacGruber. If he ever does get a title shot, he'll probably be put over by John Cena. Honestly, the guy is like superman nowadays its annoying. But when you think about it, John Cena has never locked horns with The Great Khali.
Natalya was moved to Raw but she'll mostly be with the new Unified Tag champs. The divas of the WWE isn't really that impressive. So if Natalya does contend for the Women's title, it'll even out the brand since Beth Phoenix is carrying the divas on Smackdown. She might add power to the roster full of divas that has a hard time connecting a move.
The other two superstars that moved to Raw is Ezekiel Jackson who is out due to an injury. But if he does return, he probably won't be used as much just like MVP or Mark Henry. The other is Goldustย who I believe will probably won't be used as well or if he is, will probably be "talent enhancement".
Now on Smackdown. The biggest draw in the draft for SD is Kofi Kingston. CM Punk is a huge heel right now and being former tag team champions, Kofi might battle it out with The Straight Edge Society alongside Rey Mysterio. If not, he will probably be competition for Drew Mcintrye who has the Intercontinental title. And if worse comes to worse, he'll probably be stuck on the tag team division and battle with The Hart Dynasty on Raw.
The other big draw is Christian. A battle with Jack Swagger? Most likely, but we already saw these two during their time on ECW. Its either that or a shot at Drew McIntrye as well. Personally, I like seeing Christian with gold so if he does stay on SD I would like to see him with the Intercontinental Championship.
Then the Big Show returns to SD. Right now the world's largestย athlete is not being used as people would expect. It would be nice to see him put Jack Swagger on his place but he most likely still be stuck on the tag team division, or a feud with Kane. Maybe The Undertaker? Well all the big talents are on Raw so Big Show might get a break.
Then Kelly Kelly. Come on. I can't see her in the title hunt. Last time I saw her she was under Vicky Guerrero. She might team up with The Glamazon and feud it out with Lay-Cool. Other than that, well. What else is there? Duke it out with Vicky Guerrero? Manage a superstar?
The other draftees for SD is iffy. SD really got duped with the whole thing. First of all, Chavo Guerrero. He hasn't done much on Raw except be beaten by a midget. He'll probably be with VicKy and reform his go-fer role back in La Familia. The other is the guy who has been handing him his ass, Hornswoggle. Geez. The only thing he can do is promos. Hopefully no matches, just stick him to promos.
Chris Masters also moved to SD. Now this a guy with potential. Lastย timeย he was drafted, he broke the Wellness Policy. Well he is clean now I hope he get big roles this time. He is a face now he'll probably resume what John Morrison used to do in SD, pop the crowd then leave.
And lastly Cody Rhodes. He has no Randy Orton this time so I hope he gets a push now. Either that or still be stuck the tag teaming.
What do you think the future holds for the 16 Draftees?
