Notre Dame Spring Football Game: Irish Pick Up Three Huge Commitments

Dan ScofieldApr 24, 2010

Although football has yet to kick off in Notre Dame Stadium, plenty of excitement is happening elsewhere on campus.

According to Irish Sports Daily, Brian Kelly has secured commitments from three highly-touted prospects this morning. Although early in the ranking process, all three are slotted as four-star talents thus far.

The first to commit of the three was Tony Springmann (6'6", 270 lbs.) out of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Springmann, a guy who could play either on the offensive or defensive line, is close friends with current Notre Dame receiver John Goodman and tight end Tyler Eifert, as the three attended Fort Wayne together.

Springmann chose the Irish out of his academically elite final four, including Wake Forest, Boston College, and Stanford.

The second verbal of the day came from a linebacker out of Cincinnati, Jarrett Grace (6'3", 230). A highly recruited kid from the depths of Ohio State country, Grace grew up with Notre Dame as his dream school.

The 4.0 GPA student chose Notre Dame over an impressive list of suitors, including Tennessee, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Boston College, Cincinnati, and more.

Conor Hanratty, the son of former Irish All-American Terry Hanratty, also pulled the trigger on Saturday morning.

The 6'5", 300-pound offensive tackle is not only ranked already as an ESPN150 member, but he fills a huge need at tackle for the Irish. Bringing great promise to the line, his recruitment also shows that Kelly can close on top talent, not to mention legacies—something Charlie Weis didn't excel at.

The younger Hanratty sports one of the best offer lists in the nation for an offensive lineman. He chose the Irish over offers from Florida State, Iowa, Stanford, California, Clemson, Maryland, and Wisconsin.

Check back again later in the day for more recruiting updates after the Blue-Gold Game!
