San Francisco 49ers Trade Up to Land Rutgers Tackle Anthony Davis

With possession of two top 20 picks in the draft, the 49ers were in a position to significantly upgrade at least two need spots on their roster tonight, and they did so when they selected former Rutgers left tackle Anthony Davis.

Davis might remind some of a current 49er Vernon Davis, who also has been known as an incredible natural talent, but had some personality problems.  The 49ers are clearly sold on Davis, and were clearly worried either the Broncos or Dolphins would take him as they move up to select Davis.

Mike Singletary has shown a propensity for mentoring young players (Davis as the example again) that have had some problems but have incredible talent, and he apparently looks to do so again here with Anthony Davis.  He gave up the 13th overall pick and 113th overall pick (their fourth round pick) to move up two spots.
