Cincinnati Reds Edinson Volquez Suspension

Brian CapozziApr 20, 2010

This is the 2nd time in 2 years that a MLB player was hit with a 50 game suspension. Last year Manny Ramirez got 50 games for using PED’s… and now the latest player is Edinson Volquez. The 26-year-old Volquez was 17-6 with a 3.21 ERA for the Reds in 2008 and pitched for the National League in the midsummer classic at the old Yankee Stadium. But he has not pitched this year as he recovers from Tommy John surgery. Volquez was 4-2 with a 4.35 ERA in 2009 but did not pitch after June 1.

The suspension will be effective on Wednesday, April 21, 2010.
