Will Carlos Vela Be Sold From Arsenal In The Summer?

Callum D'SouzaApr 21, 2010

Rumors are continually circling Marouane Chamakh and whether or not the lanky Moroccan will joining Arsenal in the summer. The Gunners lack of forward depth became evident this season as injuries ensured they were left with little forwarding options in the early parts of the season.

With the Gunners selling Emmanuel Adebayor to Manchester City in the summer it meant the Arsenal boasted a striker pack of Robin van Persie, Nicklas Bendtner, Eduardo Da Silva and Carlos Vela. But with injuries to Bendnter and spearhead van Persie meant Eduardo was forced to step in.

With the Croatian still struggling to cope with the long lasting affects of his horror injury in 2008 it was not a welcoming sight for Arsenal fans. Eduardo is still lacking an adequate first shot and his attacking prowess that was so evident during 2007/2008.

But Arsene Wenger opted to blood in youngster Carlos Vela. After beginning his first Arsenal campaign in blistering style with a hat-trick in only his second match for the club, last season. The stylish Mexican has failed to make a real impact, largely due to Wenger failing to play the 21 year old.

The former Osasuna has managed just 18 appearances this season, 13 off the bench, and a mere goal. Vela had been used more as a fringe, cup player but with Arsenal failing to make any real impact in the domestic Cup's, first team experience has been hard to come by.

The Mexican is blessed with speed, tricks, balance and a cool head in-front of goal. At 21 Vela has a huge future ahead of him, whether it is at Arsenal is a different story.

Wenger has seemingly gone off the talented prospect. With the influx of Marouane Chamakh and possibly another striker will Carlos Vela be sold to a promising European outfit?

Wenger had the chance to loan his number 12 to the likes of Fulham but opted against it. The Frenchman may consider loaning Vela out in 2010/2011 or if an offer comes along, will Wenger sell Carlos Vela?
