Soon to Be Arsenal Striker, Chamakh, Is a Poor Man's Ronaldo Says Tony Cascarino

Aaron AndersonApr 20, 2010

Former Chelsea Forward Tony Cascarino decided he had input on our supposed new striker in Chamakh. Now whether it is true or not that he has signed with Arsenal is pointless.  What is the point is that Cascarino is not very impressed with Chamakh, calling him a poor man's version of Cristiano Ronaldo.

“Chamakh is technically very good and is similar to Cristiano Ronaldo in his style, tricks, and even his looks. However, he’s very much a poor man’s version as he’s nowhere near as good. In fact, he is like Ronaldo at his worse in terms of going to ground at every opportunity. The Moroccan is one of the worst around in terms of looking for fouls and penalties. He also scores nowhere near as many goals as his Portuguese lookalike.”

“What he does possess is quick feet, a good ability on the ball, and a decent aerial strength as you’d expect seeing as he is 6 ft 2.  He is the type of signing that you’d invest in; in the hope he’d improve.  However, every time I’ve seen him play, he’s been very frustrating, mainly because he goes down so easily.  I’ve found myself looking out for snipers in the crowd.  However, with Wenger’s track record of improving strikers, he could be a decent prospect next season.”

Now how fair of a comment that is is questionable considering one being a winger while the other is a striker.  Not to mention that Cascarino didn't have the best goal scoring record as well at Chelsea.  So the validity of his comments are pretty low, but the point is, is Marouane Chamakh good enough to play for Arsenal?

Now after reading different sites with the quotes from Cascarino I couldn't help but laugh at the fact that almost every comment after the article was..."who the crap is Tony Cascarino?" Or to that effect.

But why is a former Chelsea player commenting on a random French Striker coming to Arsenal?  And in all honesty, why to Cristiano Ronaldo. They clearly play different styles, or is it because they both dive...I think it's clear that almost every player dives.  So if he's going to talk about divers hopefully we will see next week the headline from him being Wayne Rooney and Steven Gerrard.

To conclude, don't believe this joker. Chamakh will be a great addition to the team and will help Arsenal to a treble next year ;)
