Why Jim Ross Going To TNA Is The Best Thing For Wrestling

JC AugustineApr 20, 2010

Jim Ross is arguably one of the most influential men in the WWE after Mr.McMahon. For starters has been the voice of the WWE for almost two decades and has recruited multiple stars to the prowrestling industry. Ross handles multiple duties behind the scenes that help organize and run the WWE.

Sadly as of late the WWE has not given the legendary commentator the proper respect he deserves. After Ross suffered a Bell’s palsy attack last October but he had fully recovered in time for wrestlemania. Sadly the WWE ignored Ross and the three man booth was sadly used again.

Many matches and shows have suffered horribly from a lack of Jim Ross on the commentary. Especially during Wrestlemania during Shawn Michael’s last match I wanted to shoot Michael Cole. The poor diction, horrible botches on mics, and bland corporate persona make Monday Night Raw a test in patience. How much longer can Michael Cole make our life’s hell?

But enough about ranting about crappy commentators, Jim Ross had a meeting with TNA officials in Texas earlier this month and talked with Dixie Carter and her father Bob Carter. TNA’s meeting was not about recruiting him as a color commentator (I think Tenay and Tazz are doing a good job) but as an unofficial general manager to help organize the roster and the office.

In my less than professional opinion (hey I’m working on it) Jim Ross would be the best thing to happen to TNA. He knows how a successful corporation is run and works at running it. Exhibit A: Eric Bischoff/Vince Russo's WCW  is a good example of how not to run a company.

Ross has recruited some of the best talent in the WWE (Jack Swagger for example) and could help clean up the crap that TNA management likes to do. Exhibit B:too much Hogan and Abyss.  TNA’s show last night showed that they have turned a corner hopefully and with Jim Ross they could actually become a threat to the WWE. With a real Monday Night War the fans would be the winner because it's only survival of the fittest.

Update; There has also been talks between HD.net for Jim Ross to be a commentator on MMA fights and UFL football games. Ring of Honor is also on HD.net so it would be interesting if he took the offer. Jim Ross is an avid MMA fan so this would be a very likely option.
