How WWE's Guest Host Concept Could Be Made Better

The Doctor Chris MuellerApr 19, 2010

WWE has been having weekly guest hosts for about a year now, and the reactions the the idea have been mixed.  While some hosts come on and entertain everyone, others have trouble even getting the names of the superstars right.

The guest host idea came from the Donald Trump storyline from him buying Raw.  Since then we have seen some hosts who are genuine WWE fans like Freddie Prince Jr and Dule Hill of Psych, and we have seen people who clearly don't watch wrestling like Sharon Osbourne and The Hoff.

The guest Host idea has one major flaw, they cycle out weekly.  One way to make the idea more appealing is to have a guest host each month.

This would give the person hosting only five days at most that they would need to show up, and it would allow them to General manage the brand through a PPV event.

Having a guest General Manager for a month would allow the person to see storylines through to the end, and even be involved in them.

Imagine Shawn Michaels coming back and running Raw for a month, or a guy like Daniel Tosh who is a popular comedian, and huge WWE fan, running the show.

The guest host idea was flawed from the beginning because it was used as a way to cross-promote movies and TV show instead of being used to bring in genuine WWE fans to host.

I understand that most of WWE's ideal choices would not want to host for a month, but the fans ideal choices may be more open to the idea.

There are rumors flying around that the guest host idea will come to and end soon and we will have a standard GM again, and that's fine with me personally, but I wish the idea would have been given some better thought by Vince and the other people in charge over in Stamford.

Cheech and Chong, while popular, are not ideal guest host for a family-oriented show.  What about a guy like Sam Worthington.  He is the star of Avatar, Terminator Salvation, and Clash of the Titans, all movies WWE fans probably saw.

He is an action star of some of the biggest movies of the past two years, having him host makes more sense than Ben Rothles-whatever, who stumbled through the names of most of the wrestlers.

I am mostly ranting at this point, but I don't see why the idea wasn't planned out better by the people executing it.
