Devon TeepleApr 15, 2010

The City of Zion has announced that construction on their multi-million dollar stadium will begin next week.

According to the Lake County Fielders website, ‘this is now worthy of a blockbuster trade.”

The reason hopes are high in Lake County is due in large part to a location change.

The “Baseball Stadium Village” will now become a year round retail and entertainment spectacular.

“The commercial appeal of this new location has attracted exciting new private investment allowing for the project to expand and it’s really the premier home for this project for generations into the future,” said Mayor Lane Harrison, “Plus, the addition of retail shops and a movie theatre will create an exciting year round entertainment and shopping atmosphere, more jobs in our community, and attract further development in the area.”

For those unfamiliar with the Lake County Fielders, the club is based out of Lake County Illinois, and is owned and operated by longtime baseball enthusiast Kevin Costner.

Alongside Costner is Managing Partner/President, Rich Ehrenreich.

Ehrenreich, the long-time owner and founder of the Schaumberg Flyers, has been involved in professional baseball for nearly 15 years.

The historic first game for the Fielders’ will take place May 20, when they visit the Winnipeg Goldeyes.
