Things are getting ugly in New Orleans

According to ProFootballTalk.com, the New Orleans Saints have informed WWL-TV that they have been taken off their press release list, will not receive any return phone calls from reporters, and possibly could be denied credentials for the 2010 National Football League Draft, which takes place later this month.  Simply, things are only going to get uglier from here on out.

It all started when the Saints announced that they will be building a new press box that will result in 1,200 season ticket holders losing their seats.

That was followed by media outlets constantly reporting on this everyday since word broke out of this.  Of course the constant coverage angered Saints officials, which prompted Public Relations director Greg Bensel to send WWL-TV a couple emails.

Of course WWL-TV released the text of the emails as they have a duty to inform the public what was going on and Bensel most likely never stated that the emails were to remain confidential.

That is apparently what prompted the Saints to cut off WWL-TV.

So, what is next?  Most likely WWL-TV will file a lawsuit against the Saints citing violation of freedom of the press.

Also, there is a good possibility that National Football League commissioner Roger Goodell will place a phone call to owner Tom Benson telling him to put WWL-TV back on the press release and give back their credentials, since Goodell is receptive of fans opinions.

The fact of the matter is that the Saints didn’t need to build a whole new press box as they could have completely remolded the old one.

In the end, if the Saints don’t wake up and realize what they are doing is wrong there could be a serious back lash from fans, which will cost them a lot of money.
