Raptors Report Week 22: Toronto Goes from Hopeful To Doubtful

Sachin AroraApr 5, 2010

The Raptors 7th seed chances took a major blow on Sunday night. Their opponents, the Golden State Warriors, didn't have much to play for, but out-hustled the Raptors and outplayed them for most of the game.

The Raps made a late push, but a missed layup in the dying seconds by Chris Bosh doomed the Raptors. They made a miraculous comeback, but it fell short, and the Raptors now sit two games back of the Charlotte Bobcats. This could have been a mere game, but now with the schedule getting tough, the Raptors will have to win at least five of their last six games to realistically have a chance at 7th.

The Raptors finally got some wins, playing with some urgency, but couldn't seal the deal on the final game of the week.

Record: 3-1

Performance on a scale of 1-10: 7

Positives

The Raptors are playing with urgency and appear to have their mid-season form back. It might be a little too late, but they might do something in the playoffs. Sonny Weems has been spectacular, and Chris Bosh is finally driving the ball and attacking the defenses.

Negatives

The Raptors lost to a lowly Golden State team by one point, but they shouldn't have even been in that opportunity. Even without Monta Ellis, the Warriors managed to claw out a victory in Toronto. The Raptors toughness down the stretch of games has to improve.

Overall, this week would have been great if Bosh had made that last second layup, but that loss hurt. The Bulls are right on the Raptors tails, and the Raptors will need some Charlotte losses to get that 7th seed. Hopefully they can at least hold that 8th seed.
