Should Strikeforce MMA Star in Queue Bobby Lashley Fight in May or June?

Brian OswaldApr 5, 2010

We have seen it before: Bobby Lashley vs. TBA.

Thankfully, Wes Simms stepped in to save the day last time, and subsequently received a bully beat down courtesy Lashley at Strikeforce in Miami.

This time around Strikeforce was unable to locate any last minute chum for the shark tank. Unless there are other unforeseen reasons yet to be unearthed, finding a ready, willing, and able opponent for "The moniker formerly known as the dominator" appears to be a tall order.

Via Lashley’s Facebook page (yesterday at 6:54 pm):

"Sorry for the delay in responding to all of you who are eager to see me fight again. I will not be on the Strikeforce card in April, but my training is going very well and I'm fully prepared to step into the cage when the time is right. I will let you know as soon as my next fight is set!"

This leaves the organization in the position of either placing the American Top Team trained fighter on their coming together nicely May card or their yet to be officially announced June Card.

Strikeforce St. Louis: Heavy Artillery already offers up a bevy of heavyweight beef with Alistair Overeem defending his heavyweight strap against Brett Rogers while Andrei Arlovski fangs up to take on Antonio Silva. Also, Roger Gracie will finally make his organizational debut when he takes on Kevin Randleman.

As far as the fabled June card, it appears that is the chosen month when hold out Fedor Emelianenko will finally take on Fabricio Werdum. Also confirmed , the return of former Middleweight champ and movie star Cung Le vs. either Scott Smith or Frank Shamrock.

Where to place Lashley really comes down to whether or not Strikeforce wants to get his face on CBS or are they are fine with him flashing his smile on Showtime...the May card being on Showtime with the June card being on CBS due to Fedor.

If CBS has final say so, and they want Lashley on prime time, expect the former WWE star to be appearing in the cage a little later rather than sooner.

Now if we could just find a proper name to replace that pesky TBA.
