UFC Fantasy Tournament: Light-Heavyweight Division Finals

Jessy MorrisApr 1, 2010

We've made it to the finals of the light-heavyweight tournament. Before we take a look at the final fight, let's check out the results of last week's semi-final fights.

The semi-finals were very interesting, featuring four of the best light-heavyweights in the UFC. Surprisingly enough, both fights were really one-sided.

Mauricio ''Shogun'' Rua defeated Quinton Jackson by a 9-1 vote while Jon Jones defeated Antonio Rogerio Nogueira by an 8-2 vote.

Final Fight: Shogun Rua vs Jon Jones

This is a fight that would have fans on the edge of their seats. Rua and Jones are two of the most dynamic fighters in the 205lb division, it's no wonder they are fighting it out in the finals.

Rua has been mastering the craft of Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for years, and has been victorious against some of the biggest names in the sport. Believed at one time to be the best light-heavyweight fighter in the world, ''Shogun'' is now back on track since coming to the UFC with great performances against Chuck Liddell and Lyoto Machida.

Jon ''Bones'' Jones is the future of the division. Only 22-years-old, Jones has made his presence felt in the UFC by easily mowing through Stephan Bonnar, Matt Hamill, and Brandon Vera, among others. Jones has yet to display any type of weakness, which leaves many people wondering if he has any.

Jones would surely have a huge reach advantage, strength advantage, and wrestling advantage, but could his overall skills match the experience of ''Shogun'' Rua?

Who wins the light-heavyweight tournament?

Next week the winner will be announced, and the final fantasy tournament begins, as the heavyweights are going to compete. With the recent turn of events in the division, that tournament is not to be missed.
