We Need a Double Elimination NCAA Tournament
Concerning the proposed expansion of the NCAA College BB Tournament, I see this as a bad move. Expanding the tournament simply means to include the now NIT teams and further water down the talent of the tournament. When was the last time a 16 seed made any noise in the tournament. Answer? Never. Why add more. It would make it more of a bad joke.
Further, the only team recognized for the National Championship is the Tournament winner. It is more of a Tournament SURVIVOR. Simply because they avoided the upset. Kansas, for example had a bad game, one bad game, where Northern Iowa had the best game of their season. But the end of the regular season Kansas was 32-2. They were supposedly the regular season champion. But that means nothing, the only thing that matters is the tournament winner.

Report: Biggest Spenders in Men's CBB 🤑
I agree that if one team is favored 'ON PAPER' over another team, let them prove it on the floor. But it's frustrating to see a team out after one bad game. What about, instead of expanding the tournament to 96 teams, change the format of the 64 teams to a DOUBLE ELIMINATION tournament. The format would have to be studied on how to do that but I've seen it many times in weekend softball tournaments. Why eliminate a team after one bad game. Make it double elimination to enhance the options and the suspense. If a team loses then they are in the loser's bracket and have to play an extra game or two.
This would seem to be a better option than expanding to 96 teams. I am a Jay-hawker and we felt the sting of the one game upset many times in the tournament with a highly rated team, if not a number 1 team. It's real wrong for a team like that to be sitting and watching other teams with 8-10 losses still playing when they are done and gone.
Any thoughts?
