Will Soccer Ever Be Famous in the United States? If So, How?

some devilMar 30, 2010

Today was a really great soccer fan day as there was a match that was both entertaining and very captivating—Manchestr United vs. Bayern Munich.

What made me mad was that when I went to the Internet to look for the time of broadcast yesterday I had the worst time and experience looking for the times. The website run by Fox did not post any time nor where the match was to broadcast. Thank God, I, being a soccer fan, knew that it would be around 11:30 in the morning on the West Coast. Luckily, I woke up and watched the game.

The experience not only made me mad but showed me the disdain and the stupidity of all those that ran the networks. How do they expect people to be fans if they do not even know where the games are streaming?

This kind of ignorance could cost many networks fans and leave them worrying what happened in the first place. I have never been a fan of ESPN, especially when it comes to many international sports, but at least one thing they do well is maintain a schedule where any fan can see what and when the sport of their choice will be available.

This TV self-induced dementia is what gives rise to the failing of many networks that leads to loss of jobs and a lot of could have, should have, moments that would have been corrected in the first place.

To all soccer fans out there, let's hope that the World Cup will bring good news to the networks in terms of eyeballs and massive ratings that will keep us soccer fans statewide happy and content.

Yes, I know that ESPN has the rights, but I cross my fingers and hope that they woke up from the disaster that they had four years ago.
