Poor Didier Drogba, or "Jose Take Me To Inter, Please Please!"

OK, this has gone far enough...I have to rant.

One day Didier Drogba is being talked about as one of the best players in the world....next day he just can't get any respect.

Not that he hasn't been displaying some conduct unbecoming—he was second only to Cristiano Ronaldo in the art of simulation, plus it was a clear stomp on Thiago Motta in the Inter game. However, C.Dot is not subject to the constant manhandling in the box like Drogba is and certainly Drogba receives a fair share of punishment, game in and game out. However, Drogba has cleaned up his game considerably, while C.Dot is still up to old tricks in La Liga.

Let's look back at the Chelsea-Barcelona Champions league semifinals in 2009. As a Barca fan, I will nimbly skip over the job Toure and Abidal were allowed to do on him and fast forward to the crux of the matter.

Michael Ballack was free to remonstrate and chase the referee down, waving hands and touching the referee. Wasn't FIFA running a respect the referee program during that year? Was Michael Ballack fined or did he miss any time?

Frank Lampard at the end of that game stood and berated the officials for some time before Drogba got involved. Was Lampard fined or even mentioned in the media? As a matter of fact, there isn't even any YouTube video, but those who watched the game would have seen the incident.

At the end of the Inter game, John Terry took a turn in the officials a la Frank Lampard. Maybe I missed it but was there any fallout?

Drogs, the lesson here is...don't let the camera catch you. You are always under the gun.
