Sam Bradford Is The Favorite: But Not a Lock For Number 1 Overall Pick

Alex StullMar 30, 2010

The St. Louis Rams have a huge need for a powerful presence on the defensive line.

That is why Nebraska's Ndamukong Suh and Oklahoma's Gerald McCoy are clear favorites to be taken with the number one pick in April's draft.

But the  defensive line is not the only thing lacking for the struggling Rams.

Quarterback is a huge need as well, as the Rams have failed to find consistency at the position for the past two seasons.

In the past two NFL drafts St. Louis has passed up Matt Ryan and Mark Sanchez while the two quarterbacks have gone on to have success with the Falcons and the Jets.

The Rams may not want to let another chance at a possible franchise QB pass them by.

The Rams General manager has said that Suh, Gerald McCoy, Notre Dame's Jimmy Clausen, and Oklahoma's Sam Bradford are all possibilities for the number one overall pick.

Suh finished his senior season with 82 tackles(47 solo), 12 sacks, and finished second behind Alabama's Mark Ingram in the Heisman trophy voting.

McCoy had 32 tackles(25 solo), 6 of which were sacks. He forwent his senior season to enter this year's draft.

Clausen threw for 3,722 yards, 28 TDs, and 4 INTs in his final year with the Irish before forgoing his senior season for the NFL draft.

Sam Bradford threw for only 562 yards, 2 TDs, and no INTs. Bradford was sidelined for most of the year with a right shoulder injury.
