Champions League: Bayern Munchen vs Manchester United Live Score and Preview

Xavier GonzalezMar 29, 2010

Rooney and Ferdinand are due back in the squad for the match against Bayern Munich, whilst this is great news for United, the return of Rooney has caused a little bit of concern in the Bayern camp.

Franz Beckenbauer (the Bayern Munich President) has come out and said that the club fears the on form striker and even respects him to the extent that he thinks Rooney could win the world cup for England if he continues on his current goal scoring form.

The Bayern side have been on rather poor form as of late and the recent blip against Stuttgart highlights this fact. Added to which loosing their last domestic match against Stuttgart (a match which should’ve been an easy win for Bayern Munich) is likely to severely damage the home sides confidence.

Although United has a rather limited squad depth (which has shown in United’s domestic competitions this season) they don’t seem to have any gaps for Munich to exploit.

United should certainly win this match, even if it’s only because Bayern Munich don’t look like a side who should be in the European cup at all. And after seeing the  performance they put in against Stuttgart at home on Saturday it would be hard for anybody to argue.
