On a cold day on the first of March of the year 2010, an Empire was born that has slowly begun to change the NASCAR world. It is not related to the Hendrick Empire. Or the Roush Empire. Or the Gibbs Empire.

No, I am talking about the birth of the glorious Paul Menard Empire.

Three races into the 2010 Sprint Cup Season, Paul Menard found himself sitting in 17th in the points standings. Across the country, debates raged questioning, how could this be? This was Paul Menard after all, a fixture in the everlasting battle for the 35th points position these past three seasons.

This must be some sort of cosmic abnormality!

One of the essential debates leading up to the creation of the Empire was whether or not David Stremme or Paul Menard had been the worst driver in the Cup series over the past few years.

The debate resulted in this table here - Stremme V. Menard Debate

Alas, few realized the effects this debate would have on the racing world. For that day, the Paul Menard Empire was created...and the sport would never be the same.

The very next weekend, Menard scored his second career Top 5, vaulting into the Top 10 in points for the first time in his career.

An aberration? The Empire begs to differ.

Using the power of the Empire, Menard responded the very next weekend with another Top 20 run, maintaining a position in the Top 10 in points. Menard channeled the power of the Empire, once again to earn another Top 20 finish at Martinsville and currently remains in Chase contention.

The power of the Paul Menard Empire is ever growing. Fear is creeping across the garage area as other drivers are considering growing luscious sideburns in order to attain some of the power of the Empire.

If only it were that simple.

NASCAR best be on watch, the Paul Menard Empire is here to stay...sideburns, soul patch and all. And we won't stop until Menard rises triumphantly from victory lane.

The Empires time will come...oh yes, it will come.
