Denny Hamlin Wins Wild Martinsville Cup Race

                   Denny Hamlin won the Goodys Fast Relief 500 at Martinsville Speedway in Virginia on Monday. Hamlin and Jeff Burton dominated most of the race until 9 laps to go when Jeff Burton cut a tire and went into the wall. The caution came out and at the moment it was Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch running first and second. They come to pit road for tires and the rest of the front runners stayed out. Alot of people im sure were second guessing this call. Jeff Gordon got the lead with Matt Kenseth in second, on the restart Kenseth got into the back of Gordon and her comes Newman and Logano along with Martin Truex Jr all in the top 5. Gordon is coming around to take the white flag when the caution flys when Paul Menard got into the back of Kyle Busch who restarted eighth. This setup a green white checker finish again, this time its Gordon the leader, Kenseth, Newman and Hamlin. In turn one Gordon gets moved by Kenseth and Hamlin got into Newman everyone was racing very hard. Gordon would Kenseth out the way and he would end up in 18th. Hamlin would get pass Gordon and take the lead and win holding off a hard charging Joey Logano who ended up in second. Hamlin came from 9th to the victory in those last few laps very impressive. Jeff Burton had a great car only to have a tire issue in the last 15 laps and end what was a good day for the 31 car. Mark Martin also ran top 5 most of the day and got a pit road violation, he was able to rebound to then only have a tire fail.

                The polesitter Kevin Harvick who led the first 57 laps went to the garage with brake failure. Several other drivers had a bad day Scott Speed who started off to a good 2010 season had trouble early. Joe Nemechek cut a tire at lap 50. Mike Bliss and David Stremme got together and David Reutimann spun early and got stuck in the curb area of the track with the grass he would eventually rebound.  Elliott Sadler would get spun collecting David Stremme and AJ Allmendinger. Marcos Ambrose had a good finish considering he got into alot of incidents with other drivers such as David Ragan and Kevin Conway on monday. Tire failures started as well with all the heat from the brakes Robby Gordon, Juan Pablo Montoya, Regan Smith and eventually Mark Martin would all suffer tire failures. The Sprint Cup Series is off next week but will return April 10th for the first Saturday night race at Phoenix. Here is the results from Martinsville Speedway.

Kevin Harvick lost 3 spots in points, while Jimmie Johnson took the lead the first time this year as he has steadly worked his way up the ladder starting with that disappointing finish at Daytona and then three wins at California, Vegas and Bristol.
