UFN 21- Predictions, Florian Reigns Supreme..Nelson, Not So Much
First of all, I would like to congratulate the WW champ Georges St-Pierre on another successful title defense..Even if he did beat my favorite "The Outlaw"..While I'll admit that Hardy didn't have much to offer against the champ, he showed courage that every other fighter in the WW division lacks, even Dorothy Willis acknowledged it, and that's saying something :]. Now for my predictions
The Prelims
Rafaello Oliveria vs Andre Winner
With a record of 1-1 in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Oliveria is beginning to make a name for himself, after defeating John Grunderson by way of UD back at UFC 108. With four of his 12 professional bouts being won by decision, 5 by knockout or TKO, 3 coming from submission, he can finish the bout by a variety of ways...Too bad he's fighting the always game Andre Winner. Coming off the KO win over Roli Delgado, I think Andre Winner carries that momentum and adds another victory to his already impressive resume. Training out of Team Rough House, with the resiliency Dan Hardy displayed the other night, I don't expect Winner to tap if he ends up getting caught in a submission.
Torres-Volkmann
Emerson -Lentz
Tibau-Caol Uno
Linhares-Okami
Gerald "The Hurricane" Harris-Mario Miranda
Brennerman-Jason High
Main Card
Ross Pearson-Dennis Siver
Ross Pearson, is a bad man! He punished traveled-veteran Aaron Riley time and time again during their UFC 105 matchup, until the match was forced to end due to doctor stoppage. I expect Pearson to dominate Siver as well...Pearson TKO
Nate Quarry- Jorge Rivera
"The Rock" many felt was the cream of the crop during the first season of The Ultimate Fighter. However, we didn't get to see his ability due to injury, but in his time inside the octagon since the show, he has impressed me more and more. The win over Pete Sell opened up my eyes to just what this man can do. Jorge Rivera can very well hold his own, but Nate Quarry is no Kendall Grove...Rivera gets caught Quarry TKO
Roy Nelson-Stefan Struve
Dana White can not stand Roy Nelson, as witnessed during the previous season of The Ultimate Fighter. Yet, time and time again Nelson proved Dana wrong. Now "Big Country" really gets tested against "The Skyscraper" If Nelson takes him down, it could be over, but "The Skyscraper" is well diverse in mma and has a solid ground game. My mind tells me that Big Country pulls it off some how, but me gut tells me to go with Struve. Struve- Triangle Choke
Florian-Gomi
Kenny Florian is on his way back to a title shot. Gomi is considered a "threat" to BJ Penn's title, but who hasn't been considered a threat to Penn, until he demolishes them inside the octagon? If Gomi is a threat, he better get by "Ken-Flow" first. Florian is widely diverse and can do just about anything inside the cage, except beat a champion :/... Kenny Florian TKO...Next stop for Florian, BJ Penn!
